Zoos across the country are using art as part of their enrichment programs.  Zoo animals seem to take pleasure in painting and enjoy choosing their own colors and mediums.  Many pet owners have taken the cue from zoos and are encouraging their pets to try their paws at painting.

The Sebastian County Human Society is holding its first Pet Pawtraits contest.  Pet owners who enjoy spending time with their pets will want to take this opportunity to have fun with them.  We suggest that you let your pet practice with plain white paper before offering the canvas.

Entries should be on a 16x20 stretched canvas, only water based non-toxic paints accepted.  Entries will be displayed and judged on September 6, 2008 at Cause for Paws.  The contest is open to any pet regardless of species.  The winning owner will receive a portrait of his or her pet painted by local artisit Bill Rebsamen.
